IND vs ENG: India and England's first practice match canceled due to rain

IND vs ENG: Rain continues to disrupt the warm-up matches of the World Cup 2023 and Team India has become its latest victim. The warm-up match between India and England in Guwahati was canceled due to rain. This was the first practice match of Team India, but just a few minutes before the start of the match, it rained and then the match could not start. Earlier on Friday, the match between South Africa and Afghanistan was also canceled due to rain. Team India's next warm-up match is against Netherlands.

The Indian team had to play only one warm-up match during this entire World Cup in Guwahati, but the rain took away that opportunity from the fans. A day before this match, on Friday, there was a match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on the same ground, in which rain was not seen anywhere and the entire match was played.

Heavy rain after the toss

Fans were hoping that they would get a chance to see the Indian team also playing but it could not happen. The toss of the match had taken place and Rohit Sharma had decided to bat first but 5 minutes before the start of the match, it started raining so much that it did not stop. The rain was so heavy that after waiting for about one and a half hour, the Indian and England teams went back from the stadium to their hotel, while the umpires announced the cancellation of the match two hours later.

Danger in the next match also?

India's next warm-up match is now against Netherlands in Thiruvananthapuram on 3 October. However, the shadow of rain will continue to loom over this because it is raining here too. On Friday, the match between South Africa and Afghanistan was canceled without even starting, while the match between Australia and Netherlands also remained the same.

As far as practice is concerned, the teams of India and England were playing ODI cricket only a few days ago. In such a situation, both of them will not be affected much by the cancellation of this match. It was better for England because Jos Buttler's team had reached Guwahati a day earlier after a journey of about 38 hours. In such a situation, the players will get a chance to rest.
