IND vs WI: The Indian cricket team defeated the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs in the first match of the two-Test series played in Ahmedabad. West Indies' batting flopped

The West Indies' batting completely failed in both innings. The visitors were restricted to just 162 runs in the first innings. In response, the Indian team declared their innings at 448 for 5. Trailing by 286 runs, the West Indies were expected to perform better in the second innings, but they collapsed for 146 runs in the second session of the third day. For the West Indies, Alick Athanaze top-scored with 38, while Justin Greaves made 25 and Jayden Sales made 22. Neither batsman managed to put together a long innings.

West Indies' poor performance in the first innings

West Indies' first innings got off to a poor start. Opener Tegnarayan Chanderpaul departed without scoring. Justin Greaves top-scored with 32, helping the team cross the 100-run mark. The Indian bowlers, especially Mohammed Siraj (4 wickets) and Jasprit Bumrah (3 wickets), bowled brilliantly. Kuldeep Yadav also took two wickets.

Three stars shine in India's batting

Indian batsmen gave the West Indies bowlers no chance. KL Rahul (100 runs), Dhruv Jurel (125 runs), and Ravindra Jadeja (104*) scored brilliant centuries. Shubman Gill contributed 50 runs, and Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 36 runs. Thanks to these innings, India scored 448 runs for 5 wickets. Roston Chase took two wickets for the West Indies, but the rest of the bowlers were ineffective.

Indian Bowlers Dominate

The Indian bowlers did not allow the West Indies batsmen to play freely. Siraj and Bumrah wreaked havoc in the first innings, while Ravindra Jadeja broke the back of the visiting team by taking four wickets in the second innings. Mohammed Siraj took three wickets, Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets, and Washington Sundar took one wicket. In the West Indies' second innings, they lost five wickets for just 46 runs, after which defeat was certain.

Jadeja Became the All-Round Hero

Ravindra Jadeja was the biggest star of the match. He scored an unbeaten century of 104 runs to put India in a strong position and then took four wickets in the second innings to quickly dismiss the West Indies. His all-round talent played a key role in India's victory.
