Actually, under the provisions of the Indus Water Treaty, the water of Sutlej, Beas and Ravi has been given to India and the water of Indus, Jhelum and Chenab has been given to Pakistan. India and Pakistan signed the Indus Water Treaty on 19 September 1960 after 9 years of negotiations, in which the World Bank was also a signatory. The water commissioners of the two countries meet twice a year and arrange technical visits to project sites and important river headworks. But after continuous neglect of the rules and regulations of this treaty by Pakistan, the central government has taken this big decision.
