Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is embarking on a significant diplomatic mission to three nations. This visit is considered pivotal amid discussions regarding a potential second round of negotiations with the United States. However, the threat of conflict persists due to warnings from the US and Iran's subsequent vows of retaliation.

Diplomatic Mission to Islamabad and Peace Proposals

Amidst rumors of a second round of peace talks between the US and Iran, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to Pakistan has been confirmed. Prior to his departure for Islamabad, Araghchi stated on X (formerly Twitter), “I am heading for timely visits to Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow. The purpose of my visit is to establish close coordination on bilateral matters with our partners and consult on regional developments.

According to reports, Araghchi will conduct a brief visit to Islamabad for bilateral discussions and to present a proposal that's expected to be forwarded to the United States. The Associated Press, citing two anonymous Pakistani officials, reported on Friday that Araghchi, accompanied by a small government delegation, is expected in Pakistan this weekend. This visit is believed to be part of Pakistan's efforts to facilitate the resumption of ceasefire talks between Iran and the US.

Strategic Visits to Muscat and Moscow

Following his engagements in Islamabad, Araghchi is scheduled to travel to Oman and Russia, while according to Al-Jazeera, there is a high probability of a breakthrough in the US-Iran discussions in Islamabad, as the delegation led by Araghchi is expected to arrive in the Pakistani capital tonight. On Friday morning, the Iranian Foreign Minister held a telephonic conversation with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated that both sides exchanged views on regional developments, the ceasefire, and ongoing diplomatic efforts regarding US-Iran engagement.

Escalating Tensions and US Threats

While diplomatic efforts are intensifying, the risk of renewed conflict remains high, while the US President has consistently issued warnings that failure to reach a deal would result in severe consequences. In response, Iran has issued its own stern warnings regarding potential strikes on its infrastructure.

Iran's Retaliatory Warning Regarding Oil Infrastructure

Iranian Vice President Esmael Saghab Esfahani has warned of severe retaliation if oil facilities are targeted.
