Tensions between Iran and the United States have escalated Importantly during efforts for a second round of peace talks. Tehran recently opened the Strait of Hormuz to all nations, a move welcomed by US President Donald Trump but characterized by him as a victory for the United States. In response, Iran has accused President Trump of telling seven major lies within a single hour. Iran has warned that if the current situation persists and the US blockade isn't lifted, it will once again close the strategic waterway.

Dispute Over Peace Talks and Blockade

Amid attempts to initiate a second round of peace negotiations, Tehran opened the Strait of Hormuz as a gesture. While President Donald Trump welcomed the move, he framed it as a surrender and a victory for American policy, while however, when Iran requested the removal of the US blockade following the opening of the Strait, Trump stated that the blockade would remain in place until negotiations with Tehran were fully concluded. This stance has reignited tensions between the two nations even before the formal start of the second round of talks.

7 Major Allegations by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf

The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has leveled serious accusations against Donald Trump, claiming the President made seven false assertions in one hour. Ghalibaf warned that such actions would lead to the re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Regional Mediation and Iran's Stance

Ghalibaf emphasized that Iran remains true to its pledges but won't compromise on its authority over the Strait. He also took the opportunity to acknowledge regional diplomatic efforts. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ghalibaf expressed gratitude toward the state of Pakistan and General Asim Munir for their mediation efforts in supporting the ceasefire and peace process. He reiterated that while Iran seeks stability, the continued blockade by the US remains a primary obstacle to keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for international traffic.
