Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, is currently in Tehran leading a high-level political-security delegation to deliver a message from the United States and clear the path for the next round of talks between Iran and the US. A two-week ceasefire is currently in place regarding the conflict between Iran and the United States. The first round of talks aimed at ending the ongoing conflict was held in Islamabad, but the meeting wasn't successful. Now, both countries are making efforts to return to the negotiating table.

Munir's Mission to Advance Negotiations

To move the talks forward, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir is visiting Iran with a message from President Trump. Sources indicate that the decision regarding the next Iran-US dialogue will be finalized only after the meeting with the Pakistani Army Chief. While the meeting has taken place, specific details are yet to be released. An informed source told Tasnim News Agency that following the meeting between the Pakistani delegation led by Munir and Iranian officials, the Iranian side will conduct a necessary review of the matter before making a decision on the next round of talks with the US.

Iran's Stance and Demands from the US

The source stated that a ceasefire in Lebanon would serve as a "positive signal" for Iran's decision on the next round of talks. Also, the source reiterated that the US must adhere to a logical framework for negotiations and avoid obstructing the process by making absurd demands or violating promises made prior to the ceasefire. The primary objective of Munir's visit is to convey the US message to the Iranian leadership and plan the subsequent phase of discussions.

High-Level Delegation and Diplomatic Engagements

A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, confirmed that Munir is leading a team that includes Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. According to the statement, Asim Munir and Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran with a delegation as part of ongoing mediation efforts between the US and Iran. Upon arrival in Tehran, the delegation was welcomed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. This visit coincides with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's departure on Wednesday for a tour of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey.

Preparations for the Next Round in Islamabad

US President Donald Trump stated a day earlier that the second round of talks with Iran could be held in Islamabad within the next two days. Pakistani media outlet Geo News, citing sources, reported that authorities and security agencies in Pakistan have been instructed to make all necessary administrative and security arrangements ahead of the next round of negotiations.
