Tehran: The people of Iran are still angry with the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. Protest against Hijab has claimed many lives. Meanwhile, an Iranwire report claimed that several revolutionary guards tried to target Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's residence with artillery. Some dissident elements within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conspired to target Khamenei.

Iranwire reported that during a meeting with the Supreme Leader on 3 January, commanders of the Revolutionary Guards expressed their dismay at the ongoing protests and warned Khamenei about the future of the Islamic Republic. Commanders and security officers were present in this four-hour meeting. The meeting was called on the third anniversary of the assassination of the late commander of the IRGC's Operation Quds Force, Qasim Sulemani. During the meeting, senior IRGC commanders briefed Khamenei on their assessment of Iran's security situation.

Some commanders admitted that most of the forces under their command had also defied orders to fire on civilians protesting against the regime. In addition, Khamenei was also warned about a decline in military morale and an increase in infighting among rank-and-file IRGC officers. Khamenei's representative in the IRGC, Abdullah Haji Sadeghi, said at the meeting, "Based on our reports, it appears that the morale of the IRGC force has declined compared to last year."

Haji warned the Supreme Leader and his commanders, saying, “We have collected information and data from various units in all divisions, which reveal the existence of strife within the ranks. It should be managed properly. It is important to note that we are not talking about just one or two individuals, but an armed force consisting of over 600,000 personnel.
