Donald Trump: Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir's US visit has become the center of a fierce political debate in India these days. The main opposition party Congress has launched a scathing attack on the Modi government over this visit and former US President Donald Trump inviting General Munir for lunch. Congress leaders say that this incident is a symbol of India's diplomatic failure and raises serious questions on foreign policy.

Sharp attack by Congress

Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera said, "When the news first came that Trump was going to meet General Munir, BJP supporters and some journalists called it false propaganda. Today, when the news of the lunch has been proved true, everyone is silent. It has now become necessary to understand the difference between patriotism and government devotion."

Kheda wrote on social media that those who trolled Congress leaders should now apologize because the truth has come out.

Jairam Ramesh's sarcasm on 'Howdy Modi'

Senior Congress leader and spokesperson Jairam Ramesh also took a dig at the matter and said that President Trump's honoring General Munir is a diplomatic setback for India. He said, "The person who made inflammatory statements related to the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22 is having lunch with Trump at the White House today. Is this the reason why Trump left the G7 conference incomplete and refused to meet PM Modi?"

He termed it a triple blow to 'Howdy Modi' and said that India's foreign policy is in crisis today, and the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is extremely worrying.

Operation Sindoor and America's role

Jairam Ramesh also claimed that Trump has said many times that he played a role in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, which he presented as the end of "Operation Sindoor". Apart from this, Congress has also objected to US Central Command General Michael Kurilla calling Pakistan an "unprecedented partner" in anti-terrorism operations.

Questions raised on PM and Foreign Ministry's silence

Congress is constantly raising the question that how can a general be given official honor in America, whose statements have been related to terrorist incidents in India. Jairam Ramesh said, "Now the time has come for PM Modi and Foreign Minister Jaishankar to take a clear stand on this. Silence is no longer in the national interest."
