IND vs PAK: The Indian cricket team delivered a stunning performance in the final of the Asia Cup 2025, defeating Pakistan. This victory not only filled Indian fans with joy but also infuriated neighboring Pakistan. Indian politicians celebrated the victory with sarcasm on social media. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya wrote in his tweet, "Defeated on the border, defeated on the field."

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also celebrated the victory, writing, "Operation Sindoor on the sports field, the result is the same: India won. Congratulations to our cricketers." Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also took a dig at the occasion, sharing a photo of Jasprit Bumrah and Haris Rauf, in which Bumrah is seen making a plane-falling gesture. This gesture was in response to Rauf's teasing of Indian fans in a previous match, when Rauf had also made a similar gesture. Rijiju wrote, "Pakistan deserves a similar punishment."

Sharp Reaction from Pakistan

India's victory and comments from Indian leaders caused uproar in Pakistan. Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif targeted PM Modi, saying that he was playing politics through cricket. Asif wrote in his post, "By destroying the culture and spirit of cricket, Modi is destroying the possibility of peace and resolution of problems in the subcontinent to save his own politics. Peace and respect cannot be restored this way."

Asia Cup 2025 Surrounded by Controversy

The Asia Cup 2025 was mired in controversy from the very beginning. India was awarded the hosting rights, but Pakistan refused to play in India. As a result, the tournament had to be held in the United Arab Emirates. Many within the Indian side were also opposed to playing against Pakistan. Nevertheless, the Indian team played all three matches against Pakistan and won each time. However, the Indian players did not shake hands with the Pakistani players after any of the matches, further angering Pakistan. Pakistan also threatened to withdraw from the tournament, but ultimately did not do so.

Trophy Controversy Escalates Tensions

Another controversy made headlines after the tournament. The Indian team refused to accept the trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Naqvi chose to take the trophy with him rather than hand it over to another official. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding this incident.
