Narendra Modi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated 75 Digital Banking Units (DBUs) in 75 districts of the country to the country with an aim to make financial inclusion more comprehensive. In his speech during the inauguration, PM Modi said that how technology has become an integral part of the judicial system today, we have seen it even in the Corona era. He further said that digital banking units are another big step in that direction which is going on to make life easier for human beings like India. This is such a special banking system that will work to provide maximum service in minimum infrastructure.

Top priority for door-to-door delivery

PM Modi further said that we have given top priority to take banking services from door to door. Today, more than 99% of villages in India have some or the other bank branch, banking outlet or banking friend within 5 km. PM Modi said that today the country is again witnessing the potential of Digital India. Today 75 digital banking units are coming on the ground in 75 districts of the country. The campaign to make the common human life of India easy is going on in the country. Digital Banking Units have gone a step further in this direction.

Initiative to take banks to the homes of the poor

He said that the government has taken the initiative to take the banks to the homes of the poor as part of its commitment to serve the underprivileged. Referring to the direct benefit transfer so far to the beneficiaries of Rs 25 lakh crore, Modi said that another installment of the 'PM Kisan' scheme will be sent tomorrow. The Prime Minister said that while 'Fintech' will bring about a paradigm shift in financial inclusion in the country, UPI has opened doors of new possibilities for India and 'Vocal for Local' will give a boost to the digital economy.

Achieve Sustainable Growth Using Digital Banking

Modi said India has made steady progress by using 'digital banking' instead of 'phone banking'. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced setting up of digital banking units in 75 districts across the country in the budget for the financial year 2022-23. He had said that 75 digital banking units would be opened on the occasion of completion of 75 years of the country's independence. The idea behind the launch of these units is to make digital banking accessible to every part of the country.

11 public sector banks, 12 private sector banks and one small finance bank are participating in this initiative. In these digital banking units, customers will be able to open savings accounts, check their account balances, print passbooks, send money, invest in fixed deposits, apply for credit/debit cards and loans.
