Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the first phase of the country's longest Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Dausa, Rajasthan. PM Modi has dedicated the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway to the nation. The distance between Sohna and Dausa is 246 km, while the entire Delhi-Mumbai Expressway connecting the two major cities of India is 1,380 km long.

This expressway passing through 6 states will be completely ready by March 2024. Till now the journey from Delhi to Jaipur used to take about 5 hours, now this time will be reduced to about 3 and a half hours. Through this expressway, the journey from the country's political capital Delhi to the financial capital Mumbai can be completed in just 12 hours.

The Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is 246 km long, developed at a cost of over Rs 12,150 crore. With the commissioning of this section, the travel time from Delhi to Jaipur will be reduced from five hours to about three and a half hours. According to the statement, the opening of this section will also boost economic development in the entire region. During his programme, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for 247 km long National Highway projects, to be developed at a cost of over Rs 5,940 crore.

What will change with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway?

With its completion, the travel distance between Delhi and Mumbai will be reduced by 12 per cent and the road length will be reduced from 1,424 km to 1,242 km. Travel time will also come down by 50%. Where earlier the journey used to take 24 hours, now it will take 12 hours. This expressway will pass through six states - Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra and will connect major cities like Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat.
