Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) during a massive public rally in Cooch Behar, West Bengal. He criticized the state government for its alleged involvement in corruption, syndicate raj, and the deteriorating law and order situation. The Prime Minister asserted that a wave of change is visible across Bengal and promised that accountability for the "sins" of the current administration would be sought after the elections. He noted that the large turnout at the rally reflects public anger against the TMC's governance.

Allegations of Corruption and Syndicate Raj

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi labeled the TMC as a "corruption company" and alleged that the state is being run by a syndicate raj that instills fear among the people regarding their property and safety. He stated that while the TMC is synonymous with "cut-money" and corruption, the BJP offers a vision of rapid development. The Prime Minister mentioned that the campaign for change, which began at Kolkata's Brigade Ground, has now gained momentum across the state. He assured the public that every penny looted from them would be recovered and the corrupt would face legal consequences.

Focus on Infiltration and National Security

In the border district of Cooch Behar, the Prime Minister emphasized the issue of illegal infiltration. He accused the TMC of facilitating the settlement of foreigners for political gains while ignoring national security concerns. PM Modi stated that the BJP is committed to stopping infiltration and ensuring that illegal occupants are removed from the state, while he framed the choice before the voters as one between the TMC's policy of encouraging infiltration and the BJP's promise of securing the borders and protecting the interests of genuine citizens.

Women's Safety and the Sandeshkhali Incident

The Prime Minister raised the issue of atrocities against women, specifically mentioning the incidents in Sandeshkhali. He stated that the cries of sisters and daughters in Bengal have reached the entire nation and criticized the state government for its alleged apathy, while pM Modi highlighted "Modi's Guarantee" for the safety, dignity, and empowerment of women. He spoke about the government's initiatives like the Lakhpati Didi scheme and the historic law providing 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, which he said would benefit the women of Bengal Notably.

Concerns Over Law and Order and Judicial Independence

PM Modi expressed serious concern over the state of judicial independence in West Bengal, citing a recent incident in Malda where judicial officers were allegedly held hostage, while he accused the TMC government of disrespecting constitutional institutions and undermining the democratic fabric of the state. The Prime Minister declared that after May 4, the law would take its course against all criminals, regardless of their influence. He lamented that West Bengal, which was once a hub for employment, has now become a center for migration due to the current administration's policies.

Critique of Appeasement Politics and Cultural Identity

The Prime Minister criticized the TMC for its alleged politics of appeasement, which he claimed is eroding the cultural identity of West Bengal. He pointed to the use of the word 'Ishtehar' in the TMC's manifesto, linking it to historical religious decrees that led to violence in 1905. PM Modi argued that such moves are part of a conspiracy to erase Bengal's traditional values and heritage. He concluded by stating that the people of Bengal have decided to bid farewell to those who seek to change the state's identity and are ready to embrace a government that respects its culture.
