Ashok Gehlot News: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Rajasthan. He wrote on the social media platform Instagram that an atmosphere of anarchy has prevailed in the state. Crimes like rape, murder, theft, and robbery have become commonplace. Gehlot alleged that even BJP MLAs are now engaging in hooliganism, which is a shame for democracy.

Allegations of Assault Against BJP MLA

Gehlot cited an incident in Kapasan, Chittorgarh, where BJP MLA Arjunlal Jinagar is accused of assaulting a youth, Suraj Mali. The attack allegedly occurred when Suraj reminded the MLA of his election promise of water supply. Gehlot stated that Suraj suffered more than 25 fractures in the attack and his condition is so serious that doctors are unable to operate on him yet.

Gehlot questioned, "Will attempts be made to kill common people for questioning BJP MLAs? Will the police have the courage to take action against such an MLA?" He also stated that the police have not yet arrested the main accused in the case. Gehlot announced that he would visit Kapasan to meet the victim's family.

Vote Theft and the Election Commission's Silence

Gehlot questioned the Election Commission's role on the issue of vote theft. He said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of vote theft with evidence, but the Election Commission remained silent on it. Gehlot alleged that the Election Commission was acting under pressure from the BJP. He said, "If the Election Commission were impartial, it would not have engaged in unnecessary debates. Such talk of the Chief Election Commissioner acting is not befitting."

Questions on Democracy

Gehlot said that when a leader presents his views with data and evidence, the Election Commission should respond with respect. He warned that the issue of vote theft has now reached every household, raising public doubts about the Election Commission's impartiality. Referring to EVM and VVPAT, Gehlot said that the Supreme Court has also acknowledged the possibility of tampering of EVM, hence the VVPAT system was implemented.
