Relief for 8 former Navy personnel in Qatar - now they will not get death penalty

India-Qatar Relation: India has achieved great success in the matter of sentencing death sentence to 8 former Navy officers in Qatar. Qatar's court has stayed the execution of the death sentences of 8 former Navy officers. The punishment of all these has been reduced. This is being considered a big success for the Indian Foreign Ministry and the families of Navy officers.

The 8 Indians of the Navy who were sentenced to death in Qatar, all of them worked in Al Dahra Company there. Qatar's court had sentenced all of them to death in the month of October. Since then, the Ministry of External Affairs was continuously engaged in helping these former officers and the matter was being closely monitored. Only last month, the Ministry of External Affairs got consular access to these former officials. After this, an appeal was made again in this matter.
