The Bill to amend the Central Universities Act 2009 to provide for the establishment of a university in the Union Territory of Ladakh was presented on Thursday in the Lok Sabha. According to the statement on the objects and reasons of the bill, led by Pradhan, there is currently no central university in Ladakh and therefore the government has decided to establish a new university there. higher education, and to facilitate and promote higher education and research pathways for citizens of the territory of the Union. 

This will also meet the region's aspirations for many years to come, he said. Under the Statement of Purpose, the bill seeks to amend the Central Universities Act 2009 to provide for the establishment of a university to be named “Central Sindhu University” in Ladakh. 


Last month, the Union cabinet approved the creation of a central university and an integrated multi-purpose infrastructure development company for Ladakh. 4,444 The decision to establish the Central University at a cost of Rs 750 crore and a company with a fund of Rs 25 crore for Ladakh was made at the Union Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. Anurag Thakur said in a press conference that the university will be established at a total cost of Rs 750 crore and will serve all regions of Ladakh, including Leh and Kargil . 


Thakur said the university would help reduce the educational imbalance in the region and students in Ladakh would get quality higher education opportunities.
