Share Market Rally: Indian stock markets performed brilliantly on 21 July 2025. The BSE Sensex rose 0.54% with a gain of 442.61 points and closed at 82,200.34. At the same time, the Nifty rose 122.30 points to reach the level of 25,090.70. The rally was led by the banking sector, with strong buying seen in big stocks like HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. However, tariff-related concerns limited the market rally to some extent.
Investors' wealth jumpsToday the total market capitalization of companies listed on the BSE reached Rs 460 lakh crore, which is much higher than Rs 458.37 lakh crore on the previous trading day (July 18). In this way, investors' wealth increased by about Rs 1.63 lakh crore in a single day. This figure reflects the growing confidence of investors in the market.
Top Gainers18 out of 30 Sensex stocks closed in the green. The biggest gain was seen in the shares of Zomato's parent company Eternal, which registered a spectacular gain of 5.38%. Other major stocks include:
- ICICI Bank: 1.37% gain
- HDFC Bank: 1.50% gain
- Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M): 2.76% gain
- Bharat Electronics (BEL): 2.10% gain
These stocks played an important role in maintaining the positive mood of the market.
Top LosersHowever, 12 Sensex stocks closed in the red. Reliance Industries (RIL) was the biggest loser, with its shares falling 3.29%. Other weak performing stocks include:
- HCL Technologies: Down 1.21%
- Hindustan Unilever (HUL): Down 0.89%
- Tata Consultancy Services (TCS): Down 0.75%
ITC: Down 0.59%Weakness in these stocks dampened the market rally to some extent.
Sectoral performanceSectoral indices performed mixed. Nifty Private Bank index shone with a gain of 1.05% and Nifty Bank index rose 0.98%. Among other sectors:
- Nifty Metal: Up 0.94%
- Nifty Auto: Up 0.44%
- Nifty Midcap 100: Up 0.46%
However, selling pressure was witnessed in the Oil & Gas, FMCG, and PSU Bank sectors, which dragged these sectors down.
Broad market trend- A total of 4,327 stocks traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). Of these:
- 1,964 stocks closed in the green.
- 2,186 stocks declined.
- 177 stocks remained stable without any change.
