Shardiya Navratri: Sharadiya Navratri, which is being celebrated from September 22 to October 2, 2025, holds special significance in Hinduism. During the nine days of Navratri, devotees worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga. Today, September 23, 2025, marks the second day of Navratri, dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini. She symbolizes penance, purity, and wisdom. On this day, devotees worship her with rituals and observe fasts. Let’s know the method of worship, mantras, and other important details related to Goddess Brahmacharini.
Goddess Brahmacharini is very fond of white color. It represents purity, peace, and sacrifice, reflecting her ascetic form and devotion to celibacy. Hence, devotees should wear white clothes on the second day of Navratri.
During the worship of Goddess Brahmacharini on the second day, the following mantras are chanted:
Beej Mantra: Om Brahmacharinyai Namah
Vedic Mantra: Om Aim Hreem Kleem Brahmacharinyai Namah
Chanting these mantras blesses devotees with penance, determination, and wisdom, along with the special grace of the Goddess.
Offering jasmine (mogara) flowers or any white-colored flower is considered auspicious. Jasmine symbolizes purity and devotion to penance. Offering such flowers is believed to attract her divine blessings.
On the second day, devotees offer sweets made of sugar or mishri, such as kheer, barfi, or panchamrit. Offering these brings longevity, good health, and prosperity.
The puja is performed in the following manner:
Bath and Preparation: Wake up early, take a bath, and wear clean white or yellow clothes.
Setup of Worship Place: Place the idol or image of Goddess Brahmacharini in the home temple and worship the Kalash.
Lighting the Lamp: Light a pure ghee lamp and incense sticks.
