Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are currently enduring their worst phase in IPL 2026. The team has played 5 matches so far but is yet to taste victory. Following a significant defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday, April 14, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has severely criticized the team's performance. Sehwag stated that KKR's strategy and batting approach are beyond his comprehension.

Sehwag Questions KKR Management and Coaching

During a post-match discussion on Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag raised serious questions regarding KKR's planning. He expressed frustration over the coaching staff's role and their analysis. Sehwag remarked, "I don't understand what the coaching staff is doing or what analysis they're performing. If you know you're making mistakes, why aren't you correcting them? " He further added that a time would come when all the "bulbs in the house" would be replaced, implying a total overhaul of the squad.

Predicted Changes in Playing XI and Leadership

Virender Sehwag suggested that if KKR loses one or two more matches, drastic changes will be inevitable. He predicted that both New Zealand openers might be seen playing together. He also pointed out that Cameron Green is currently sitting out and Ajinkya Rahane might also be dropped. Sehwag went as far as suggesting that someone else could take over the captaincy and even Rinku सिंह could be excluded from the lineup. According to him, when a team is losing consistently, the management tends to resort to experimental changes.

Current Standings and Upcoming Match Against Gujarat

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently at the bottom of the points table, occupying the 10th position.

KKR is still searching for its first win of the season. The team is scheduled to play its next match against Gujarat on April 17. It's expected that the Kolkata Knight Riders might enter this contest with significant changes in their playing squad.
