During a high-level inter-ministerial briefing, officials assured that there is an adequate stock of petrol, diesel, and LPG in the country, emphasizing that there is no need for panic. The government is closely monitoring the developments in West Asia and is taking coordinated steps to ensure that domestic supplies remain unaffected. All public and private sector refineries are currently operating at high capacity to meet the domestic demand without interruption.

The government highlighted that despite the volatility in international crude oil prices, strategic reserves and optimized refinery outputs are being utilized to maintain stability, while officials addressed reports of localized 'panic buying' triggered by rumors, clarifying that the situation is under control and supply remains consistent across the country. Domestic LPG production has been specifically augmented to ensure that household requirements are met promptly, while the administration remains in constant dialogue with global energy partners to mitigate any potential long-term risks arising from the regional conflict.

Status of Fuel Reserves and Refinery Operations

According to official data, all domestic oil refineries are functioning at their maximum operational efficiency, while the national stocks of petrol and diesel are well within the prescribed safety limits. Government representatives clarified that 100% gas supply is being maintained for households and CNG-based transportation. The industrial sector is receiving 80% of its required supply, while fertilizer plants are being provided with 70-75% of their gas requirements. To bolster the supply chain, arrangements for additional LNG and R-LNG are being finalized. Oil marketing companies have been directed to ensure continuous replenishment of stocks at depots and retail outlets nationwide.

Expansion of PNG Network and Policy Updates

Significant strides are being made to strengthen the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network. According to officials, CGD companies have been instructed to expedite the provision of PNG (Piped Natural Gas) connections. 7 lakh new registrations were recorded. 0 has been extended until June 30, 2026. Under the revised policy, public institutions such as schools, hostels, Anganwadis, and canteens are slated to receive PNG connections within 5 days of application. On top of that, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has implemented an accelerated approval process for CGD projects to facilitate rapid pipeline expansion.

LPG Distribution and Industrial Supply Metrics

Regarding the availability of domestic LPG, the government stated that there is no shortage across the country. On average, over 50 lakh cylinders are being delivered daily. Under the Digital India initiative, digital bookings for LPG have reached 92%, enhancing transparency in the distribution system. For commercial LPG, supplies have been gradually restored to 70% of pre-crisis levels. Priority is being accorded to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, food processing units, and critical industries like steel and textiles. 2 lakh units distributed since March 23, averaging over 63,000 units per day.

Enforcement Against Black Marketing and Port Logistics

To curb illegal hoarding and black marketing of fuel and gas, the government has intensified enforcement actions. Official reports indicate that over 3000 raids have been conducted across the country, leading to the seizure of more than 500 illegal cylinders. Over 540 notices have been issued for regulatory violations, and more than 1200 petrol pumps and distributors have undergone rigorous inspections. Regarding maritime logistics, all major ports are functioning normally with no reported congestion. The DG Shipping control room is active 24x7, monitoring the 18 Indian vessels currently present in the affected region to ensure their safety and smooth passage.

Evacuation of Indian Nationals and Diplomatic Engagements

The safety of Indian nationals in West Asia remains a top priority for the government. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, 959 Indians have been safely repatriated recently, with 9 individuals returning in the last 24 hours. 72 lakh people have returned to India. Flight operations remain functional with 85 flights to the UAE and regular services to Oman and Saudi Arabia, though services to Qatar remain limited. Airspaces in Kuwait and Bahrain are currently closed, affecting direct connectivity, while on the diplomatic front, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held discussions with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, focusing on semiconductors, green hydrogen, and regional peace restoration.
