Indian Railway News: Indian Railways has launched a new scheme called Round Trip Package for Festival Rush for the convenience of passengers during the festive season. Launched under the leadership of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the scheme aims to control the crowd at railway stations during festivals like Holi, Diwali, and Chhath and provide financial benefits to the passengers. Under this scheme, a discount of 20% will be given on the base fare of the return ticket if the tickets for coming and going are booked together. Let us understand all the aspects of this scheme in detail.How will you get the benefit of the scheme?Under this scheme, if a passenger books the tickets for coming and going together, then a discount of 20% will be available on the base fare of the return ticket. For example:If a passenger is going from Delhi to any district of Bihar or Purvanchal for Chhath Puja and has booked his ticket in the following period:Ticket for going: Between 13 October 2025 to 26 October 2025.Return ticket: Between 17 November 2025 and 1 December 2025.Suppose the base fare of the return ticket is Rs 1000, then after the discount the passenger will have to pay only Rs 800.Important conditions related to the schemeTo avail this scheme, some important conditions have to be fulfilled:Same name and station pair:Both tickets (coming and going) should be in the name of the same passenger and for the same station pair (example: Delhi-Patna-Delhi).Booking process:First the ticket for the journey has to be booked, then the return ticket has to be booked through the connecting journey feature.Advance Reservation Period (ARP) will not be applicable for the return ticket, that is, tickets cannot be booked too early.Confirmed ticket mandatory:Both tickets (coming and going) must be confirmed. Discount will not be available on waiting or RAC tickets.No change or refund:No changes can be made to the ticket (name, date, or class).Refund facility will also not be available.Booking mode:Both tickets must be booked through the same mode (online or offline). For example, one ticket cannot be booked online and the other offline.Other discounts not applicable:Under this scheme, the benefit of railway pass, PTO, voucher, or any other discount will not be available.In which trains will the facility be available?The Railway Ministry has clarified that this scheme will not be applicable to all trains. This facility will be available in the following trains:Sleeper, AC, and special trains.Note: Flexi fare trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express are excluded from this scheme.Objective of the schemeRailway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, "This scheme will help in reducing the crowd in trains during festivals. On occasions like Diwali and Chhath, lakhs of people go to their villages and cities, due to which trains and stations are full. Through this scheme, people will book tickets in advance, which will help the railways in crowd management and running special trains."PublicityRailways is using announcements at stations, newspapers, media, and social media to reach this scheme to as many people as possible.
