BJP's Priyanka Tibrewal is in the fray against Banerjee in Bhawanipur, while the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has given ticket to Shreejib Biswas.

Tibrewal claimed that Trinamool Congress workers forcibly stopped the voting process at a polling station in ward no-72 and Minister of State Firhad Hakim was trying to influence voters in the constituency.

Voting was the lowest in Bhawanipur

According to the Election Commission, 53.32 percent voting took place in Bhawanipur. Apart from this, 76.12 percent people voted in Jangipur in Murshidabad district, while 78.60 percent people voted in Samserganj. The lowest turnout has been recorded in Bhawanipur.

This election is very important for Mamta Banerjee, because Mamata Banerjee was defeated by BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari in Nandigram and she needs to win this election to remain CM. Only then will she be able to remain on the CM post.

Tight security arrangements in view of counting of votes

Tight security arrangements have been made by the Election Commission for the counting of votes. 24 companies of central forces have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident at the counting centre. State police have also been deployed in security arrangements.
