The preparations for the BRICS Summit 2026, scheduled to be held in Delhi on September 12 and 13, are nearly complete. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared information on social media stating that everything is set for BRICS 2026. Through a video post, the Prime Minister provided glimpses of the extensive preparations being made for the summit. The event will see the participation of Presidents and Prime Ministers from several nations, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. To ensure the smooth conduct of the summit, massive security arrangements have been put in place across the capital city.
Extensive Security Measures in Delhi
Regarding security, approximately 15,000 personnel from the Delhi Police and around 200 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed in the capital. CCTV cameras have been installed at every nook and corner to maintain constant surveillance. Also, the flying of drones has been prohibited in significant areas to prevent any security breach. In view of the security arrangements and to facilitate the movement of VVIP convoys, schools have also been declared closed during the summit period, while the summit will host leaders from Russia, China, Iran, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, and several other nations, making security a top priority for the Indian government.
Accommodation Details for Global Leaders
Most of the foreign dignitaries attending the BRICS Summit will be staying in various hotels across New Delhi. According to sources, a specific hotel has been designated for the President of Indonesia, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, the President of Kazakhstan, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Thailand, while another hotel will accommodate the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi along with the Finance Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Brazil. Russian President Vladimir Putin will be staying in a hotel alongside VIP guests from Bangladesh. The President of South Africa will share a hotel with the President of Burundi. On top of that, the President of the Philippines, the Prime Minister of Vietnam, VIP guests from Bolivia, and the Finance Ministers of Cuba and Uruguay will be staying in the same hotel. The President of Iran will be staying in a separate hotel, while sources also mentioned that the Presidents of China and Belarus will be accommodated in the same hotel. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Minister of State from Nigeria, the Vice President of Uganda, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations will stay together in another designated hotel.
Arrival Schedule at Bharat Mandapam
The schedule for the arrival of the heads of state and government at Bharat Mandapam has been meticulously planned, while on Saturday, September 12, the leaders are expected to arrive at the venue between 1:30 PM and 2:15 PM. On Sunday, September 13, the heads of state are expected to reach the program venue between 8:50 AM and 9:25 AM. In terms of the arrival sequence, the Crown Prince of the UAE is expected to be the first to arrive at the venue. Russian President Vladimir Putin is likely to be the last to arrive, with the President of China arriving just before him.
Vladimir Putin's Detailed Itinerary in Delhi
The schedule for Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Delhi is packed with high-level meetings and events. On September 11, President Putin is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Together, they will visit the Innoprom exhibition. Putin will also deliver a speech at the BRICS Business Forum. His day will include meetings with the President of South Africa, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, and the head of the BRICS New Development Bank. Arrangements are also being made for a meeting with the leader of Egypt. On September 12, Putin's program includes participating in the BRICS Summit. He will visit the Indian Innovation Exhibition and join other BRICS leaders in a tree-planting ceremony. Also, President Putin will attend a formal welcome ceremony hosted by PM Modi and hold meetings with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, while on September 13, the Russian President will participate in the final BRICS meeting before concluding his visit.
