2 students held for fake holiday order, friends gather to apologise to DM

Two minor students were taken into custody on Monday for circulating a fake letter on social media in the name of district magistrate BN Singh, asking all schools, colleges and universities in Noida and Greater Noida to be shut on December 23 and 24.

However, their schoolmates soon came to their friends' rescue -- gathering outside district magistrate BN Singh's office seeking pardon for the two boys. The students sat with their hands folded, holding their ears outside DM's office in Noida sector 27.

Soon after the letter started going viral on social media, Singh quashed rumours and clarified that he had not issued any such order asking educational institutions to be shut.

He tweeted that he had come to know of a fake letter circulating on social media with his signature.

The two minor students were apprehended and sent to Juvenile Remand Home on Monday.

Both the minors are students of a government school in Noida.
