President Lula Snubs: Tensions are increasing around the world over US tariffs. Meanwhile, many countries are uniting with India, and Brazil is at the top of this list. Brazilian President Lula da Silva has given a befitting reply to US President Donald Trump by rejecting his offer of a phone call. Trump recently told reporters that he is ready to talk to the Brazilian President, but Lula clearly refused it.

Lula said in a conversation with local media, "I will not call Trump on tariffs. You guys rest assured. Trump does not want to listen to us, so I will not talk to him."

Better relations with India, Russia and China

Lula talked about giving priority to talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. He said, "I would like to call PM Modi regarding business and partnership. He listens to us. I would also like to talk to Putin and Jinping." Lula believes that trade talks should be based on mutual respect and sovereignty, and not under any pressure.

He further said, "We will talk to America on tariffs, but face to face and on the basis of equality. We will not talk bowing down."

Reason for tension between Trump and Lula

There are many reasons behind the tension between Lula and Trump. Lula is considered a leader of socialist ideology, and he alleges that his opponent Jair Bolsonaro tried to stage a coup against him at the behest of the US government. Trump has openly praised Bolsonaro on many occasions and also advocated for him. Recently, the Brazilian court ordered house arrest for Bolsonaro, which is being seen as support for Lula.

Apart from this, the BRICS organization (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) is also a major cause of dispute between the two leaders. Trump claims that BRICS was established to weaken the US economy. At the same time, Lula is currently playing an important role in coordinating BRICS, which has further increased his tension with Trump.

Trump targets Brazil

Trump recently told reporters at the White House, "I love Brazil, but the rulers there are wrong. The people there are being treated unfairly." Lula took this statement as a personal attack and rejected it, saying that he would not compromise on Brazil's sovereignty.

India's growing role

India is emerging as an important player in this entire development. Lula's trust in PM Modi and praise for his leadership style shows that India is strengthening its position on the global stage. Through BRICS, countries like India, Brazil, Russia and China are trying to bring balance in global trade and economic policies.
