Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C, while joseph Vijay has made a heartfelt appeal to the citizens, particularly the younger generation, on the occasion of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day. Emphasizing the life-saving potential of a single act of kindness, the Chief Minister urged people to come forward and participate in blood donation drives to support those in urgent medical need. He highlighted that blood donation isn't just a medical contribution but a profound service to humanity that can offer a new lease on life to patients and hope to their entire families.

The Vital Importance of Blood Donation

During his address, Chief Minister Vijay pointed out that hospitals constantly require a steady and sufficient supply of blood to manage various medical emergencies. He specifically mentioned that blood is critical during major surgeries, treatment of serious illnesses, and in the aftermath of accidents where every second counts. He stressed that having an adequate stock of blood in hospital blood banks is essential for timely intervention and saving lives. To ensure this, he called for regular and voluntary blood donation from all sections of society.

The Chief Minister placed a special emphasis on the role of the youth in this noble cause. Fulfilling Electoral Promises: The Gold Ring Scheme

In addition to his appeal for blood donation, Chief Minister Vijay recently fulfilled one of his significant electoral promises by launching the 'Thaimaman Thanga Modhiram' scheme for newborns. The Chief Minister traveled to Madurai via a special aircraft to inaugurate the scheme at the Government Rajaji Hospital. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to the welfare of mothers and children in the state.

During the launch event in Madurai, Chief Minister Vijay personally interacted with the families and gifted 1 gram 22 carat gold rings to 25 newborn babies. At the special request of the mothers present, he also performed the naming ceremony for some of the children by whispering their names into their ears. This personal involvement highlighted the Chief Minister's connection with the people.

Future Implementation and Eligibility

The 'Thaimaman Thanga Modhiram' scheme is set to be implemented on a larger scale in the coming years. According to the announcement, eligible children born in government hospitals from June 22 2026 onwards will be able to benefit from this welfare scheme. This long-term plan ensures that the promise made during the elections translates into a sustained benefit for the citizens of Tamil Nadu, particularly those seeking healthcare services at government facilities.
