Rajasthan Premier League: The Rajasthan Premier League (RPL) started today at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur. Bollywood playback singer Kanika Kapoor presented the songs 'Chittiyaan Kalaiyan...' and 'Mharo assi kali ka lehenga dekho...' at the opening ceremony. After this, at 8 pm, singer Ravindra Upadhyay presented the RPL anthem. At 8.50 pm, as soon as Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandes started circling the stadium in an open car, the audience booed fiercely.
This was followed by fireworks. Then Jacqueline gave a dance performance. Soon after Jacqueline's 7-minute performance, at 9 pm, the players of Jaipur Indians and Jodhpur Sunrisers entered the field. This is the first edition of RPL.
Earlier, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Governor Kalraj Mishra and Assembly Speaker CP Joshi also reached the inauguration ceremony. The audience went berserk when RPL brand ambassador Kapil Dev took a round of the stadium in an electric car.
Free entry was given to all for the opening ceremony. Even after this, the chairs in the stadium were seen empty.
Matches will be held in Jodhpur till 31st August. After this, all the matches from September 3 till the closing ceremony (September 10) will be held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
CM said – Sports network is being built in Rajasthan
CM Gehlot said at the inauguration ceremony that history is being made for Jodhpur, I am proud. The launching of RPL in Jodhpur is a matter of special importance. The government is committed to sports. We are also conducting urban and rural Olympics. Talent will emerge from such games. A network of sports is being made all over Rajasthan. Center for Excellence is being built.
Chief Minister Gehlot and Kapil Dev sat together. During this, he was seen discussing about the game.
Governor Kalraj Mishra said – The team which loses, should not accept defeat. Play in a good environment. Many congratulations to the people of Jodhpur for RPL. Assembly Speaker CP Joshi also extended best wishes for the event.
Kapil Dev said – I will give my life for RPL
Former India captain Kapil Dev said- I will try to make this league the best, top in the country. If I have been made the brand ambassador, I will give my life.
