Also, a special auspicious window has been identified from 11:52 AM to 12:41 PM. It's considered highly beneficial to seat Ganpati Bappa in your home during these specific time frames following all traditional rituals.
Preparation and Direction for Installation
If you're installing Ganesha for the first time, the direction and placement are of utmost importance, while according to the Shri Ganesh Sthapana Vidhi, the first step is to identify the Ishan Kon (North-East direction) or the North direction of your house. This area should be thoroughly cleaned. Once cleaned, a wooden stool or Chowki should be placed there. The Chowki should be decorated by spreading a clean red or yellow cloth over it. A small amount of rice, known as Akshat, should be placed on the cloth before the idol is seated.
Step by Step Installation Process
The process of installation involves several detailed steps to ensure the deity is welcomed with respect. First, ensure the direction is either North-East or East. After preparing the Chowki with the cloth and rice, the next step is Kalash Sthapana. A copper or brass Kalash should be filled with pure water, while inside the Kalash, place a betel nut, a coin, and mango leaves. A coconut should then be placed on top of the Kalash. Following this, the eco-friendly clay idol of Lord Ganesha should be placed on the Chowki with great reverence. The devotee should then take water and rice in their hands to take a Sankalp (vow) for the puja. The invocation of the Lord is done by chanting the mantra Om Gam Ganapataye Namah. This is followed by the formal worship and Aarti.
Essential Offerings and Rituals
Lord Ganesha is offered various items that are considered dear to him. During the puja, devotees should offer Roli, sandalwood (Chandan), Akshat, and Durva grass, while it's specifically mentioned that offering 21 knots of Durva grass is very auspicious and necessary. Red flowers, such as Hibiscus or Rose, are particularly favored by Ganesha. In terms of food offerings, Modaks are his favorite, while apart from Modaks, Ladoos made of Besan or Motichoor can also be offered. Seasonal fruits like bananas and pomegranates are also highly recommended, while from the time of installation until immersion, a constant offering of coconut and jaggery should be kept near the deity. Also, whole rice (unbroken), betel leaves, and betel nuts should be presented.
