Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, has laid the foundation stone for a massive 150 crore rupees eye healthcare facility in the Saran district of Bihar. Driven by the core philosophy of 'Service is Worship' (Seva Hi Sadhna Hai), this initiative is designed to ensure that affordable and accessible eye care reaches the rural populations of the region. The Bhumi Pujan ceremony for the 'Adani Center for Eye Diseases' (ACE) took place in Mastichak, Saran, where Gautam Adani was accompanied by Priti Adani, the Chairperson of the Adani Foundation. During the event, a significant national mission for eye health was also announced, marking a major step toward eliminating preventable blindness in India.
Transforming Rural Healthcare through ACE and ATOM
The newly announced Adani Center for Eye Diseases (ACE) in Mastichak is set to become a cornerstone of rural medical infrastructure. 3 lakh eye surgeries every year, addressing a critical gap in specialized healthcare for the underprivileged. Alongside the clinical services, the initiative includes the establishment of the Adani Training in Ophthalmic Medicine (ATOM). This training center aims to prepare 1,000 health professionals annually, creating a new generation of eye specialists and female health workers. This dual approach of treatment and education is expected to create one of the world's largest rural eye care networks.
Financial Commitment and Strategic Partnerships
The Adani Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of the Adani Group, is providing 150 crore rupees in support to strengthen the ongoing efforts of the Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital. This funding will facilitate the setup of both ACE and ATOM in Mastichak. To further extend the reach of these services, 10 ambulances were flagged off during the program. these mobile units will ensure that eye care services can be delivered to remote villages across Bihar and neighboring areas, bringing medical assistance directly to the doorsteps of those in need.
