Former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane, in a recent interview, addressed the opposition's claims regarding the loss of Indian territory to China. He stated that if the opposition refuses to trust the country's top leadership, no argument in the world can change their perspective. General Naravane categorically denied allegations that the government had left him alone during the peak of tensions with China.

Response to Opposition Claims on Territorial Loss

" He emphasized that he had the full support of the government and possessed the complete authority to fire on Chinese soldiers if the situation demanded it.

The Rechin La Incident and Government Directives

These statements follow a heated debate in Parliament a few months ago, where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that the General's unpublished book, 'Four Stars of Destiny,' revealed details about the face-off at Rechin La pass on the southern bank of Pangong Lake.

Clear Orders for Indian Soldiers

During that critical period, Indian soldiers had fortified their positions with tanks atop the pass in the disputed area claimed by China. As Chinese soldiers equipped with tanks advanced toward Indian positions, the situation became extremely delicate. General Naravane clarified in the interview that the orders he received were, in fact, very clear. He stated that Indian soldiers had the full authority to fire from the beginning if their safety was under threat.

Clarification on 'Four Stars of Destiny' Controversy

Regarding the uproar over his book, the former Army Chief stated that there was nothing in the book to warrant such a commotion. General Naravane remarked, "People have different perspectives. My thinking from the ground level will be different, which in turn would be different from the diplomatic or political level. " Although the publication of the book has been halted, the former Army Chief mentioned that he found satisfaction in the writing process. He stated that he has moved on and has already written his second book.
