Blockade in the Strait of Hormuz and Vessel Movement

Due to the ongoing conflict, a strict blockade by the United States and Iran is in place in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has deployed more than 20 underwater mines in the region. Despite these measures, ships continue to navigate through the passage at high speeds, while captains of vessels stranded in the Persian Gulf are successfully evading US and Iranian authorities. According to the Financial Times, ships in the Persian Gulf are employing five specific methods to cross the Strait of Hormuz.

Statistics of Successful Crossings and Captures

Through these tactics, 20 ships have successfully navigated out of Hormuz so far. However, some vessels have fallen into the hands of Iran and the US. Currently, three ships are stuck in Hormuz; two have been taken under control by Iran, while one has been seized by the United States.

Key Tactics Used by Ship Captains

Dominance of Asian Vessels and Iranian Tankers

The report indicates that the majority of ships currently navigating Hormuz belong to Asian countries. European and American vessels have largely withdrawn from the area, unwilling to take the risk of crossing, while meanwhile, Iranian tankers are moving frequently through the strait, and the US has been unable to trace them.

China-Iran Trade and Cargo Details

Most of Iran's incoming ships are arriving from China. Through these vessels, China is supplying Iran with materials for missile production as well as food supplies, while on the other hand, ships departing from the Persian Gulf are primarily loaded with oil and gas.
