The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a comprehensive weather update, issuing an orange alert for nine states across the country, while while several regions are bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall, Uttar Pradesh continues to grapple with a severe heatwave that's expected to persist for at least the next two days. Specifically, between June 27 and June 29, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to experience extremely heavy downpours. On June 28, certain locations in Assam and Meghalaya are also expected to witness significant precipitation. Currently, the northern limit of the monsoon remains stationary, passing through Surat, Indore, Mandla, Daltonganj, and Motihari, while however, the meteorological conditions are turning conducive for the monsoon to cover the remaining parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Bihar, and to reach Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the coming 3 to 4 days.
Regional Weather Observations
In the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall has already been recorded in parts of West Bengal and Western Madhya Pradesh.
