The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather forecast indicating widespread rainfall across various parts of the country over the next 24 hours. According to the latest reports, the monsoon has officially entered India, bringing significant weather changes from Delhi to Kerala. The monsoon has already made its presence felt in Kerala, Lakshadweep, and parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Meteorologists predict that the monsoon will soon advance further, covering Goa, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and several regions in the Northeast. The IMD expects consistent rainfall in Kerala, coastal Karnataka, and the Lakshadweep islands as the system progresses.
Heavy Rainfall and Regional Forecasts
The weather patterns in the Northeast are also set for a major shift. States including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to receive substantial rainfall. Specifically, parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya are likely to experience heavy downpours for several consecutive days. Plus, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are projected to witness continuous rain throughout the week, providing much-needed relief from the heat but also raising concerns about local weather disruptions.
Hailstorm and Thunderstorm Alerts
In the northern regions, the weather is expected to take a more intense turn. The IMD has predicted significant rainfall for Uttarakhand on June 5. Along with the rain, a hailstorm warning has been issued for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and parts of the Western Himalayas. Residents in North India should also prepare for thunderstorms and high-velocity winds. States such as Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh are likely to experience lightning and storm conditions. In some areas, wind speeds could reach up to 60 km/h. On June 5, Eastern and Western Madhya Pradesh, along with Chhattisgarh, may witness winds blowing at speeds of 50-60 km/h, with some locations potentially seeing gusts as high as 70 km/h.
Weather Outlook for Delhi-NCR
For the National Capital Region (NCR), the sky is expected to remain cloudy on Friday. The forecast suggests light rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds between morning and afternoon. Wind speeds in Delhi-NCR are anticipated to range between 40-50 km/h, though some specific areas might face dust storms or squalls with speeds reaching 60 km/h. This shift in weather is expected to bring a temporary dip in temperatures across the capital and its surrounding cities.
Heatwave Conditions in Other Regions
While many parts of the country prepare for rain, some regions will continue to battle extreme heat. According to the IMD, Bihar is likely to experience heatwave conditions from June 6 to June 8. Similarly, parts of Uttar Pradesh will face intense heat starting from June 7. This period highlights a stark contrast in India's climate, where the monsoon arrives in some sectors while others remain under the grip of a heatwave. Also, Odisha is expected to remain hot and humid despite scattered rainfall. Similar weather conditions of high humidity and heat are predicted for coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and certain parts of the Northeast states.
