A ceasefire is currently in place between Iran and the United States of America, yet the situation remains fraught with tension. While both nations express a desire for a peace agreement, a lack of mutual consensus has stalled progress. Consequently, the scheduled second round of peace talks between the two countries in Pakistan couldn't take place, while following meetings with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Russia to meet with President Vladimir Putin. Putin has offered to mediate to end the conflict; however, the deadlock persists over the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear issues. In this context, Iran has now presented a new proposal to the United States.

Diplomatic Engagements and Putin's Mediation

The primary reason for the failure of peace negotiations between Iran and the US is Iran's refusal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, while after the first round of talks in Pakistan concluded without any results, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi's visit to Russia has gained significant importance. President Vladimir Putin has offered to mediate the conflict to bring it to an end. Despite this, the situation remains stuck on the critical issues of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's nuclear program. Iran has now formally placed its demands on the table as a prerequisite for further cooperation.

Iran's Three Conditions for Reopening the Strait

To reopen the Strait of Hormuz and move forward with peace talks, Iran has stipulated the following three conditions:

Trump's Deliberation and Potential Rejection

US President Donald Trump has held a meeting with his team to evaluate Iran's three conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, while as of now, he has not issued any public response regarding the proposal. However, according to various media reports, Trump isn't satisfied with these conditions, while there is a strong possibility that Trump may refuse to accept Iran's terms. It's noteworthy that the first round of peace talks held in Pakistan yielded no results, and the second round of negotiations has yet to be scheduled as both sides remain at an impasse.
