In a significant legal development, a civil court in Patna has granted anticipatory bail to Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, and his two bodyguards on Monday. This judicial relief comes in relation to a case involving a violent clash between two prominent coaching institutions located in the Musallahpur area of the city, while the court's decision provides a major reprieve for the founder of Khan Global Studies (KGS) and his security personnel, who had been seeking legal protection following the incident.
Background of the Musallahpur Incident
The legal troubles for Faisal Khan began following an incident that occurred on June 2. According to the case details, a group consisting of approximately 15 to 20 individuals allegedly launched an attack on the premises of Khan Global Studies in Patna. During this confrontation, the group reportedly engaged in vandalism and pelted stones at the coaching institute run by Khan Sir. The situation escalated quickly, leading to significant tension in the educational hub of Musallahpur.
The Viral Video and Police Investigation
The case took a complex turn the day after the initial clash when a video surfaced on various social media platforms. The footage purportedly showed two bodyguards associated with the institute firing shots during the altercation, while following the emergence of this video evidence, the local police took swift action and took the two bodyguards into custody. The authorities confirmed that the weapons used in the firing were seized and subsequently sent for forensic examination to determine the exact nature of the incident.
An FIR was registered at the Kadamkuan police station regarding the matter. While the bodyguards were placed in judicial custody, the investigation continued to probe the claims made by both sides, while initially, Khan Sir had alleged that the attack on KGS was orchestrated by individuals linked to a rival coaching institute. However, members of the rival institution countered these claims, accusing Khan Sir and his team of being responsible for the sequence of events.
Court Proceedings and Legal Timeline
The path to obtaining anticipatory bail involved several delays in the judicial process. The hearing, which was originally scheduled, faced a postponement from July 10 to July 13 due to the absence of the presiding judge. Last week, the court heard the final arguments from both the defense and the prosecution on Wednesday. After considering the submissions, the court reserved its judgment for Friday.
However, the order couldn't be delivered on Friday as the Session Judge was on leave. Arvind Kumar Mouar, the advocate representing Khan Sir, informed the media at the time that the order would be pronounced on Monday. "The Session Judge was on leave, so the order couldn't be announced, while but now the order in this matter will be pronounced on Monday," Mouar had stated. True to the schedule, the court delivered its decision today, granting the requested anticipatory bail to Faisal Khan and his two bodyguards.
The rival institution had previously claimed that the incident was pre-planned, citing the viral video of the guards firing, while khan Sir has consistently denied these allegations as the controversy grew. With the grant of anticipatory bail, the legal process will continue as the investigation into the June 2 clash and the subsequent firing remains ongoing.
