Parliament Winter Session: After the security lapse in Parliament on Wednesday, opposition parties created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Even on Thursday, the proceedings of the House continued to be disrupted, after which a total of 13 MPs from various parties including the Congress have been suspended from the Lok Sabha for the entire winter session. A circular related to this suspension has also been issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. All of them have been suspended citing House Rule 374.

The blame fell on these MPs

Earlier, five Congress MPs – T N Prathapan, Hibi Eden, Jotimani, Ramya Haridas and Dean Kuriakose – were suspended amid the uproar on Thursday. However, the uproar continued following which Congress's Benny Behanan, VK Srikandan, Mohammad Javed and Manickam Tagore were also suspended. Action has also been taken against CPIM's PR Natarajan and S Venkatesan. Apart from this, DMK's Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and MP K Subramaniam have also been suspended for the entire winter session. All of them are accused of disrupting the proceedings of the House and contempt of the chair.

This MP got relief

According to initial information, news of suspension of a total of 14 MPs from the Lok Sabha was revealed. However, when the circular was released in the evening, it contained only 13 names. According to the information, the suspension of DMK Party MP SR Parthiban has been canceled after he was suspended by mistake.

Suspended MPs will face these difficulties

The 13 MPs suspended from Lok Sabha can no longer enter the chamber, lobby and gallery. He has also been suspended from meetings of parliamentary committees of which he may be a member. No item will be placed in his name in the list of business of the House. Any notice given by him during the period of suspension will not be acceptable. Suspended MPs cannot vote in committee elections held during the period of their suspension. According to the Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954, as amended from time to time, if MPs are suspended from the service of the House for the remainder of the session, they are not entitled to daily allowance for the period of suspension, Because his stay at the place of duty cannot be treated as 'residence on duty' under Section 2(d) of the salary.
