The Indian LPG carrier Nanda Devi has successfully reached the mid-sea location near the Vadinar terminal of the Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat. According to port officials, the vessel is carrying a significant consignment of 47000 metric tons of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Mid-Sea Cargo Transfer and Distribution Strategy

Officials have stated that the entire volume of gas from the Nanda Devi is being transferred to another ship while at sea, while once this ship-to-ship transfer is completed, the stock will be divided for distribution to different parts of the country. According to the logistics schedule, 50% of the total stock will be transported to the Ennore Port in Tamil Nadu, while the remaining 50% is destined for the Haldia Port in West Bengal. In a related logistical movement, another LPG carrier named Shivalik is currently stationed at the Mundra Port. Reports indicate that the Shivalik is in the process of offloading 12000 metric tons of LPG stock at Mundra. Following the completion of this offloading process, the vessel is scheduled to move towards the Vadinar mid-sea location. By evening, the Shivalik will participate in further ship-to-ship transfer operations to manage the remaining cargo, ensuring a continuous flow of fuel to various distribution points.
Supply Chain Extension to Dahej and Mangalore
The cargo managed by the Shivalik after its mid-sea operations is slated for multiple destinations. According to the operational roadmap, the remaining stock will be offloaded at the Dahej Port in Gujarat and two separate terminals located in Mangalore, Karnataka. This multi-port offloading strategy highlights the coordinated efforts of port authorities and oil marketing companies to maintain the supply chain across the western and southwestern coasts, while the use of multiple terminals is expected to streamline the movement of LPG to bottling plants and eventually to consumers.
