Polling will be held in all 117 seats on February 20. 16th February is the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidas ji. Due to which lakhs of devotees from Punjab go to Banaras in Uttar Pradesh to visit the birthplace of Guru. In such a situation, all the political parties had appealed to the Election Commission to postpone the elections. It was said that about 20 lakh population may face problems related to voting.

Devotees will leave for UP from 13

There is 32% Scheduled Caste brotherhood in Punjab. February 16 is the 645th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ravidas ji. In such a situation, lakhs of people visit his birthplace Govardhanpur. This place is in Banaras of Uttar Pradesh. On the day of birth anniversary, the people of Punjab will leave Punjab by special trains on 13-14 February only with the desire to have darshan. People will keep coming back till a day or two after 16. So he will not be able to take part in the voting.

These parties have written the letter

Bahujan Samaj Party first raised the demand to postpone the date of elections in Punjab. BSP's Punjab chief Jasbir Garhi said that this date should be made February 20. After this, the Chief Minister of the Congress government, Charanjit Channi, wrote a letter asking him to postpone the election. Seeing the situation, the BJP, Captain Amarinder Singh's Punjab Lok Congress and Sukhdev Dhindsa's Shiromani Akali Dal (United) have also demanded postponement of the elections.

Now the community was also in protest

The Doaba region of Punjab and especially Jalandhar has the highest number of devotees of Shri Guru Ravidas ji. He was also opposed to the date of the election. Devotees say that they want to contribute to this important stage of democracy, but due to the lack of foresight of the commission, they may be deprived of voting. For this reason, devotees had appealed to postpone the date of voting for a week.
