Pakistan : National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has created a new trouble for himself by refusing to hold a vote on the opposition's no-confidence motion to remove the Imran Niazi government. This is being seen as contempt of order of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. For this they can also get punished.

The post of Speaker in the Assembly or Parliament is considered non-partisan and above political parties. Kaiser cited his 30-year-old relationship with Imran Khan and refused to comply with the directions of a five-judge bench of the Pakistan Supreme Court. Speaker Kaiser chose the partisan route and resigned from his post, instead of voting on the no-confidence motion mandated by the court on Saturday.

Earlier, his deputy Qasim Suri had on April 3 rejected the no-confidence motion on the basis of an alleged foreign conspiracy to sack the Imran Khan government. He had adjourned the session of the Assembly. After this the opposition moved the Supreme Court. On 7 April, the Chief Justice ordered the restoration of the National Assembly and voting on 9 April.

Imran Khan was not present in the House but in his private house located on the outskirts of Islamabad when the vote on the no-confidence motion was going on in the House. It is also said that Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG (ISI) Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum met Imran Khan at his Bani Galla residence. The former cricketer has called for a protest today, alleging a foreign conspiracy to overthrow his government.

According to Pakistan watchers, PML(N) leader Shahbaz Sharif will take oath as the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Monday. This will pave the way for the general elections at an appropriate time. Ahead of the vote of no-confidence motion, the lone PTI member in the assembly said that Imran Khan would return to power with a two-thirds majority.
