A devastating road accident occurred on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway in the Palghar district, resulting in the loss of 12 lives and leaving more than 30 people injured. The incident took place in the Dhanivari area of Dahanu Taluka on Monday evening around 4 PM. The tragedy involved a head-on collision between an Eicher truck carrying a wedding party and a large container vehicle, while the impact was so severe that it also swept up a two-wheeler that was in the vicinity at the time of the crash.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to the reports from the site, the Eicher truck was transporting guests for a wedding ceremony. As the truck reached Dhanivari and was proceeding towards Khadkipada, a container vehicle traveling from the direction of Mumbai collided with it. The force of the collision caused the front section of the container to detach and fall directly onto the Eicher truck. This led to several passengers being crushed under the heavy weight of the container parts, causing immediate fatalities and critical injuries.
Casualties and Impact
The accident claimed the lives of 12 individuals in total. Among the deceased were two people who were riding the two-wheeler that got caught in the collision. The remaining 10 victims were part of the wedding procession or others involved in the crash. Initial reports suggest that there were more than 40 people on board the truck when the accident occurred. Currently, between 30 and 35 people are reported to be injured, with many of them in critical condition.

The wedding party had started their journey from Bapugaon in Dahanu Taluka and was heading towards Dhanivari. Heartbreakingly, the accident took place very close to the bride's residence, just as the guests were about to arrive for the celebrations. Rescue Operations and Medical Treatment
Immediately following the accident, local authorities and bystanders rushed to the scene to assist the victims, while the injured were quickly transported to the Kasa Sub-District Hospital for emergency medical attention. Due to the severity of the injuries, several individuals were later referred to Vedant Hospital in Dhundalwadi and other medical facilities in the neighboring state of Gujarat for advanced treatment, while a large crowd has gathered outside the Kasa Hospital as families wait for news regarding their loved ones. Medical teams are working tirelessly to provide the necessary care to those affected by this horrific highway disaster.
