Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party on Friday while addressing a public gathering in Assam. Speaking via video conference from Guwahati, the Prime Minister labeled Congress a 'shop of false promises' and accused the party of creating divisions among people. Due to inclement weather, the Prime Minister couldn't reach Kokrajhar as planned and expressed his apologies to the citizens. During the event, he dedicated and laid the foundation stones for development projects exceeding ₹4,500 crore, reiterating the NDA government's commitment to preserving Assam's heritage and ensuring rapid progress.
Inauguration of Infrastructure Projects
The Prime Minister emphasized the government's focus on enhancing Assam's infrastructure by launching projects worth more than ₹4,500 crore. A significant portion of this investment, exceeding ₹1,100 crore, is dedicated specifically to improving road connectivity in the Bodoland region. The launch of the third phase of the 'Asom Mala' campaign marks a strategic move to strengthen the state's road network. According to officials, these initiatives are designed to improve logistics, facilitate easier travel for residents, and boost the local economy by connecting remote areas to major commercial hubs.
Critique of Congress Governance
In a direct political offensive, PM Modi stated that the Congress party never had the intention of fulfilling its promises. He accused the opposition of gifting 'four super lies' to the public and keeping people entangled in false dreams for decades. The Prime Minister claimed that previous Congress-led governments in Delhi only signed superficial agreements on paper without any real intent for implementation. He further alleged that Congress prioritized its selfish political interests by inciting discord between different communities, contrasting it with the BJP's approach of fostering unity and permanent peace.
Transformation of Bodoland
Highlighting the shift from conflict to stability, the Prime Minister spoke about the transformation in the Bodoland region. He noted that for several decades, Kokrajhar and surrounding areas suffered immensely due to violence, with the sound of bombs and guns being a common occurrence, while however, he asserted that the situation has changed drastically under the current administration. The Prime Minister credited the Bodo Peace Accord for bringing all major organizations and groups together for the first time, paving the way for a new era of peace and prosperity where the youth are choosing development over violence.
Preservation of Cultural Heritage
PM Modi praised the Bodo community for its dedication to preserving its unique language and rich cultural identity. Recalling a recent event in Guwahati where he witnessed the vibrancy of Bodo culture, the Prime Minister expressed pride in the community's resilience. He stated that the double-engine government is working tirelessly to protect Assam's heritage while simultaneously driving modernization. He described the affection of the people of Assam as a debt that he aims to repay through continuous service and the holistic development of the region.
Impact of Double-Engine Governance
The Prime Minister underlined the advantages of having the same political alliance at both the Center and the State levels. He remarked that since the people of Assam gave the NDA the opportunity to serve, there has been an honest effort toward development. Unlike previous regimes that left projects in limbo, the current government focuses on timely completion and transparency. According to the Prime Minister, Assam is now positioned as a leader in the development of the Northeast, with improved connectivity serving as the backbone for future economic growth.
