Earlier, cutouts and banners of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi were also torn and damaged in Lakhimpur.

While sharing a post on his social media, he has said that he condemns the attack on vehicles and tearing of banners and posters of the Congress party during the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra by BJP goons in Lakhimpur, Assam. Further, Kharge has written that in the last 10 years, BJP has tried to crush every right given by the Constitution to the people of India. He also said that Congress is not afraid of the attacks and threats against Congress in Assam.

Meanwhile, Assam Congress President Bhupen Kumar Bora says that on Friday evening, some people associated with BJP attacked vehicles in Lakhimpur, along with this, trucks carrying cutouts of Rahul Gandhi were attacked. Bhupen Kumar Bora alleges that this attack took place on the instructions of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
