Sunil Ambekar, the Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has described the partition of India as one of the most painful events in the country's history. Speaking at a seminar organized in Nagpur, Ambekar expressed his belief that if the RSS had been as strong in 1947 as it's today, the partition of the country wouldn't have taken place. He noted that in 1947, the Sangh wasn't as strong as it wanted to be, yet it worked with full strength for the safety and rehabilitation of Hindus during the partition period.
Dialogue as a Medium for Resolution
Ambekar emphasized that the RSS doesn't harbor hatred or enmity toward anyone. He stated that misinformation is often spread about the Sangh for political gain, but the reality is that the Sangh considers all sections of society as its own. He highlighted that the RSS believes in dialogue and discussion with everyone to find solutions to problems. Responding to a question regarding the statement made by RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale about continuing dialogue with Pakistan, Ambekar said that the RSS perspective needs to be understood deeply.
He explained that the Sangh has always believed that dialogue between people leads to the resolution of problems at the ground level, and Dattatreya Hosabale expressed this very sentiment. However, he clarified that conducting talks at the government-to-government level is entirely a political and diplomatic decision. Such decisions are made by the government based on its assessment and prevailing circumstances. He added that the RSS doesn't provide immediate advice to the government on such matters, but maintains that dialogue ensures continuity in relationships and can pave the way for solving many problems over time.
Reaction to Jai Bhim-Lal Salaam Slogans
Addressing the slogans like 'Jai Bhim, Lal Salaam' being raised by certain groups today, Ambekar stated that as long as the path of peace shown by Gautam Buddha exists in the world, there is no need to follow the path of Karl Marx or other ideologies. He reminded that Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar had also expressed similar views and emphasized that his original thoughts should be kept in mind. Ambekar noted that due to various ongoing global conflicts, India is also facing challenges and crises in some areas, while in such times, cooperation is expected from everyone, and the country should strive to reduce dependence on other nations while increasing self-reliance.
Democracy and the Role of Gen-Z
Regarding the participation and expression of dissatisfaction by the youth on various issues, Ambekar described India as a conscious and democratic society. He pointed out that the country has a tradition of transparent elections, independent media, social media, and open discussion. He stated that the emergence of different views and people expressing their opinions isn't unusual in a democracy and should be considered a normal part of the democratic process, while he asserted that the media is independent, political parties are capable, and the country's institutions are strong, making the democratic system fully capable of handling various situations without the need for the Sangh to intervene in every issue.
Ambekar spoke highly of the younger generation, often referred to as Gen-Z, stating that they're extremely optimistic about the future of India. He said that the youth have full faith in their country and are contributing to its development within the framework of the Constitution. According to him, the youth of India have channeled their energy and talent into nation-building, which is why the country is making continuous progress in fields such as education, science, technology, industry, and other sectors, while he concluded that youth power is India's greatest strength and plays a vital role in the country's progress.
