The most awaited trailer of filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari's magnum opus 'Ramayana' has finally been released, creating a massive stir across social media platforms. While the visual effects and the primary cast have been the talk of the town, one particular actress is garnering significant attention for her pivotal role in this epic saga. Surbhi Das, a well-known face from the television industry, is all set to make her grand Bollywood debut with this film, which is reportedly being produced on a staggering budget of 4000 crore. As the trailer continues to trend, fans are eager to learn more about the actress who will be sharing the screen with superstars like Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash.

The Journey from Television to the Big Screen

Surbhi Das, who hails from the North-East, moved to Mumbai with dreams of making it big in the entertainment industry, while after establishing herself as a talented performer on television, she has now landed a significant role in Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana'. In a recent interview with Moneycontrol, Surbhi shared details about her journey and how she secured this life-changing opportunity. She revealed that her path to 'Ramayana' began with an audition for the renowned casting director Mukesh Chhabra. However, the process wasn't instantaneous, while it took nearly two months for her to receive the final confirmation of her selection. During this waiting period, she had already begun filming for her show 'Pandya Brothers'.

Securing the Role of Shrutakirti

Reflecting on the moment she got the call, Surbhi said, "I went to Mukesh Chhabra and gave the audition. About two months later, I received a call saying I had been selected. After that, look tests and costume trials took place. Gradually, I started to understand everything. I couldn't believe that I would be sharing the screen with these legends. " Surbhi clarified that her transition to films wasn't born out of frustration with television but out of a genuine desire to grow as an actor. She emphasized that she doesn't view her journey as a struggle but rather as a process. Coming from a non-film background, she noted that there is no one to make a phone call to get work; instead, one must consistently audition and stay in touch with casting directors until the right role is secured.

Clarifying Her Character in the Epic

There had been some speculation regarding her role, but Surbhi has set the record straight. She isn't playing the character of Urmila. Instead, she has been cast as Shrutakirti, the youngest sister of Sita and the wife of Shatrughna. Despite the role being part of a massive ensemble, Surbhi expressed immense gratitude for being part of such a significant project. She mentioned that when she first received the call, she kept wondering if she was merely shortlisted or if she had been confirmed for the film. Being part of a film made on such a grand scale with a stellar cast felt like a dream come true for her. The film is scheduled for a grand release during Diwali 2026.

Future Projects and Career Outlook

Surbhi Das's career seems to be on an upward trajectory following her work in 'Ramayana'. She mentioned that she has been fortunate enough to receive continuous opportunities, while after her work in 'Nima Denzongpa' and 'Pandya Store', she decided to take a break from television to focus on films. Apart from 'Ramayana', she has already signed two more films. One of these projects is based on the 1971 war, and the other is Vikas Bahl's upcoming film titled 'Dil Ka Darwaza Kholna Darling'. Surbhi expressed her happiness at not having to sit idle for long periods without work, attributing her success to the consistent auditioning process and her dedication to the craft.
