India-US Tariff War: After the India-Pakistan ceasefire and tariff war, tensions are being seen in the relations between New Delhi and Washington. US President Donald Trump has made sharp statements several times regarding tariffs on India. Recently, he announced to impose 50 percent tariff on India, which has further complicated the trade relations between the two countries. Meanwhile, India's Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar openly expressed his views on the current relations and trade deal with America in a program.Trump's unique styleForeign Minister Jaishankar said, "We are talking about all the options with America. We have not seen any American President till now who has conducted foreign policy in such a public and transparent manner. This is a big change in itself, which is not limited to India only. President Trump's way of dealing with the world and his country is very different."He further said that this style of Trump has brought a new dimension to global diplomacy. India is molding its policies understanding this change, but is giving priority to protecting its interests.Trade deal: Talks on, but red lines remainRegarding the ongoing talks on the India-US trade deal, Jaishankar said, "Talks are still on. Nobody has said that the talks have stopped. People are communicating with each other, and it is not as if there has been any 'kutti' (difference)." He made it clear that there are some red lines for India, especially to protect the interests of farmers and small producers."Our government is fully committed to protecting the interests of our farmers and small producers. This is an issue on which we cannot compromise. Our red lines are clear, and we are firm on them," Jaishankar asserted.Operation Sindoor and international diplomacyCommenting on the relationship between Pakistan and the US, Jaishankar said that there has been a long history of friendship between the two countries. However, he also pointed out that Pakistan has always done politics according to its convenience. “We have an understanding of our strengths and our relationships. Even during Operation Sindoor, there were dialogues with many countries, including the US. This is the normal process in international relations,” he said.Jaishankar also mentioned that there was dialogue with the US and other countries during Operation Sindoor, as is normal during times of war. This shows that India is strongly implementing its diplomatic strategy.
