Massive Recruitment Drive in Education and Police Departments

The West Bengal government has opened the doors for large-scale employment across the state. According to the budget announcement, the recruitment process for 1 lakh posts will be initiated soon. A major portion of these vacancies will be concentrated in the education and police departments. The state government is actively working on a plan to fill these essential roles to strengthen the administrative and educational framework of West Bengal. This recruitment drive is being spearheaded by the newly elected government under the leadership of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. 33 Percent Reservation for Women and Structural Changes

In a move to empower women and change the demographic profile of the state's workforce, the West Bengal government has announced a 33 percent reservation for female candidates in all government jobs. This policy is intended to increase the participation of women in governance and public service. On top of that, the budget includes a provision to establish women help desks in every police station across the state. This initiative aims to make the police force more accessible and responsive to the needs of women, supported by the increased recruitment of female personnel under the new reservation quota.

Significant Hike in DA and Salaries for State Employees

The BJP-led government in West Bengal has also provided substantial financial benefits to existing state employees in its first budget, while the state government has decided to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees by 20 percent. With this hike, the DA for state employees has risen from 18 percent to 38 percent. In addition to the DA increase, the government has also announced a monthly salary hike of 2000 rupees for Civic Volunteers, Police Home Guards, and Green Police personnel. These measures are aimed at improving the financial well-being of the state's workforce and acknowledging their contribution to the state's functioning.
