Maharashtra News: Six laborers have died after the lift of the 40-storey Runwal Airin building collapsed in Balkum area of Thane. According to the information, waterproofing work was being done on the roof of this recently completed building. The accident happened when the workers were coming down from the lift after finishing work and the lift fell down. The workers died in the accident. On receiving information about this incident, police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and the bodies of the workers were taken out. The police is investigating the entire matter. It is being said that the death toll may increase.

According to the information, a 40-storey building was being built by Runwal Builder at Highland Park in Balkum area. The building work was complete and water proofing work was going on on the terraces. After completing the waterproofing work, the workers were going down from the lift, during which all the workers fell down due to the break of the lift rope. It is being said that seven workers were riding in this lift and all seven of them got injured when the rope of the lift fell and the base of the lift fell on the employees due to which 6 employees died on the spot and one employee was injured in close proximity. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Councilor made allegations

After the accident, the former councilor of Shinde group demands that a case should be registered against the officer who had given the certificate for the work of installing the lift and he should be given severe punishment. Along with this, a case should be registered against the labor contractor as well as the builder. Former councilor of Shinde group, Sanjay Devram Bhoir told that the incident took place at 5.30 but since it was Sunday, there was no one on the side, due to which when the incident happened, there was not even an ambulance to take the workers to the hospital, due to which six people died. Died on the spot.

DCP, Amar Singh Jadhav said that around 5:30 pm, five people died on the spot and two were injured when the 40-storey lift of Roonwal collapsed in Balkum area of the police station. Amar Singh Jadhav of DCP Zone 5 of the police station said that they are taking information as to why this incident happened and further action will be taken through legal means.
