Akhilesh Yadav News: Central investigating agency CBI has sent summons to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Summons has been sent to SP chief in illegal mining case. Akhilesh has been asked to appear as a witness. CBI has called Akhilesh for questioning tomorrow i.e. Thursday. It has been said in the notice that Akhilesh Yadav will have to appear before the CBI to answer. The Samajwadi Party chief has been summoned in connection with a CBI FIR lodged in January 2019, which pertains to alleged illegal mining in Hamirpur between 2012-2016. In January 2019, an FIR was registered against several officials including the then District Magistrate and others. It is alleged in the FIR that government employees allowed illegal mining of minerals to take place in Hamirpur.

Called for questioning on 29th February

According to the information, Akhilesh Yadav has been called for questioning on 29th February. CBI has summoned him to join the interrogation as a witness in this case. In fact, in 2016, a petition was filed in the Allahabad High Court in which allegations of illegal mining were made against the then District Magistrate of Hamirpur and other public servants. On the orders of Allahabad High Court, CBI took over the investigation of this case.

The allegation was that illegal mining of minor minerals was allowed in district Hamirpur (UP) during the period 2012-2016. Illegally granted new leases for mining of sand, renewed existing leases and allowed interrupted period to existing lease holders and thereby caused wrongful loss to the public exchequer and the accused earned undue profits. CBI had conducted searches in this case on January 15, 2019 at 12 places in Hamirpur, Jalaun, Noida, Kanpur and Lucknow districts of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. During the search incriminating material related to illegal sand mining; Huge cash and gold was recovered.
