Pant wrote on his Twitter, 'It was a heartbreaking ending, but nothing can be more proud for me than leading a team full of extraordinary warriors. We fought fiercely throughout the season and some days our performance was a bit weak but we gave our 100 percent. Pant was handling the responsibility of captaincy of Delhi Capitals for the first time. Delhi's performance under Pant's captaincy this season was amazing and the team made it to the playoffs while topping the points table.

In the first qualifier, Delhi team had to face defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings.
