Gambhir feels that the time has come for the BCCI to accept this and find ways to prepare the youth at the domestic and India-A level.

Gautam Gambhir said, I have always believed that international cricket is not about preparing someone, but about performing. Grooming is done in Domestic and India A level. When you represent your country, you should be ready to go there and perform directly. So go ahead and try to develop people in Ranji Trophy and once they are ready, take them to international cricket and stick with them. Don't change them too quickly. We have seen that many people like Vijay Shankar, Shivam Dubey and now Venkatesh Iyer were not able to give many chances.

India weak in all-rounder's history

After Kapil Dev, Irfan Pathan played an important role in the team for a long time as a fast bowler all-rounder.
