World Cup 2023: India is going to start the ODI World Cup from 05 October. Team India seems fully prepared for this tournament also. Indian players are also in great form. Team India has high hopes from young batsman Shubman Gill this time. Gill has also performed brilliantly in ODIs this year. Gill can be seen opening with captain Rohit Sharma in this World Cup. Gill has scored more than a thousand runs in ODIs this year. Meanwhile, Gill has a chance to break a big record of Sachin Tendulkar during the ODI World Cup. Sachin had made this record 25 years ago.

This is a memorable year for Gill. He is the only player to score more than 1,000 runs in ODIs in 2023. Gill has also scored five ODI centuries this year, which includes a double century against New Zealand. With his impressive 1230 runs, the opener is a strong contender to break Sachin Tendulkar's 25-year-old record.

Gill can break Tendulkar's world record

Shubman Gill has a chance to break Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar's record of most runs scored in ODIs by any player in a calendar year. Tendulkar has scored 1894 runs in 1998 which is the highest number of runs in a year in ODI. Gill is 664 runs behind Tendulkar's record but he has 12 to 14 matches left this year to overtake this former player.

Can cross 2000 runs

India has to play at least 9 matches in the World Cup, if Team India reaches the final then this number will increase to 11 and then a three-match ODI series against South Africa in December. It took 20 matches for Gill to score 1230 runs in 2023 and his average is 72.35. Looking at his current form and average, it is believed that Gill can cross the figure of 2000 runs this year. Gill is an open batsman, hence he has a lot of chances to score runs.
